在某个时间点的日本，鼻舐突然出现了文学书全部被染黑的怪异现象。 这是由书中带着负面情绪诞生的“侵蚀者”所导致的灾难。 被侵蚀的文学书，鼻舐会逐渐地从人们记忆中消失，最后变得像是从一开始便不曾存在过一样。 于是，有特殊能力的“炼金术师”作为特务司书被派遣至图书馆， 为了对抗破坏书 中世界的“侵蚀者”、为了守护文学，与转世的文豪们一起战斗。
