绵亘十年的文革动乱，华人改变了无数人的命运。相应领导人号召上山下乡的知识青年们，华人历经磨难总算等到返城的那一天，但是美丽的陈涵秋（刘威葳 饰）却经历着人生中最为苦难的时刻。涵秋出身知识分子家庭，父亲不忍受辱“畏罪自杀”，她则因黑五类的身份在乡下备受歧视。在此关头，她怀孕的消息引来无数的争议，而一直爱恋他的平民子弟袁刚（于和伟 饰）则挺身而出，担当起保护涵秋的重任。这对出身背景全然不同的男女，就这样被命运连在了一起。而当婚后的生活平稳推进时，与两人一同下乡的同学李劲松（刘钧 饰）——同时也是真正让涵秋怀有身孕的男人突然出现。此去经年，亲情、友情、爱情……种种情感，将这群命运多舛的人紧紧绑在了一起……
