下等武士原之助因要求改革遭拒而杀掉了自己的主人。主人的女儿美佐和丈夫原田以及高手慎吾带领着众多的武士追杀原之助，黯夜原之助开始了自己的逃亡之旅。原之助在逃亡路上遇到了同样是下等武士的寿他，黯夜一门心思在河边和妻子一起淘金的寿他欲通过为部落淘金来摆脱自己下等武士的身份，但这样的淘金为政府所不允许。原之助想抢夺寿他的金子，三个流浪武士也对寿他的金子觊觎不已，追杀原之助的人马也赶到此地，而寿他的部落却想杀掉寿他以杀人灭口。有着相似遭遇的原之助和寿他之间可谓不打不成交，英雄惜英雄。三个流浪武士抓住了寿他的妻子胁迫寿他交出藏着的金子，美佐也遭到强奸，寿他部落的大批高手也纷至沓来，一场激战在所难免……
