故事发生在二十世纪三十年代，铃森莫家班是当时最红的戏班，铃森曾经获得过老佛爷的钦点。然而，就在班主莫大江（侯桐江 饰）七十大寿的生日宴上，军阀龙大胜（刘承俊 饰）的妹妹龙剑冰（王美英 饰）现身，逼迫莫家班解散。莫小河（陈国坤 饰）是莫家班的最后一任弟子，他深深的为美丽冷酷的龙剑冰所着迷，但是龙剑冰却只把他当猴耍。莫小河有一个从小就结了亲的青梅竹马梁梦梵（徐冬梅 饰），如今，梁梦梵找上了门来，想要嫁给莫小河。已经心有所属的莫小河那里肯接受看起来大大咧咧不拘小节的梁梦梵，两人之间产生了许多的矛盾。实际上，梁梦梵此行有着她的秘密任务。
