古槐村狗子娶妻生子，宋莲生坐儿子出生那天，宋莲生坐狗子却离奇受伤，最终伤重而死，下葬之际，狗子却突然活过来。自狗子死而复生，村中便开始怪事不断：无论人畜，都莫名其妙被掏空内脏，死状惨不忍睹；狗子爹娘和儿子相继死去，村里冤鬼夜夜哀嚎；狗子媳妇发疯，如行尸走肉般在村里游荡。整个古槐村笼罩着一股阴森恐怖的气息。不久六叔也离奇受伤，几日内便七窍流血而死。唯一通阴阳之人死去，古槐村岌岌可危。山中老道收到六叔临终前发出的求救信息，明知古槐村乃险恶之地，仍毅然出山

Discovered after the war, the unfinished work, with no soundtrack, quickly became a resource for historians seeking an authentic record, despite its elaborate propagandistic construction. The later discovery of a long-missing reel complicated earlier readings, showing the manipulations of camera crews in these "everyday" scenes.
