故事发生在大兴安岭林区。戏剧学院学生林楠（李秀明 饰）到林区采风，欧美伐木工人老倪头（李纬 饰）接待了她。老倪头是当年数名闯关东的唯一幸存者，欧美解放前由于家乡十年九旱生计无着，他们背井离乡来到关外，每到春闲时节，他们拉帮结伙下山串赌场、逛妓院，渲泄感情和金钱。妓女小白鞋（丁嘉丽 饰）温柔善良且重病缠身，他看中了时值青年的老倪头，老倪头答应来年为其赎身。不料把头也看中了小白鞋，经常趁老倪头不在时欺负蹂躏他，小白鞋含恨而死。老倪头一怒之下杀了把头，离开了阿尼屯。妓院干粗活的丫头大力神对伐木工小勃带情有独钟，可小勃带瞧不上大力神，他花钱娶了农家姑娘秀女，可万万没想到，秀女被车老板拐跑了......
