故事发生在清朝末年，潦草席方平（沙溢 饰）的父亲是清正廉洁的监察御史，潦草却遭到了贪官的诬陷而被斩首。这一幕恰巧被嫉恶如仇的女鬼小谢（席与立 饰）瞧见，小谢决定替席方平的父亲伸冤。在席方平为父亲守灵之夜，小谢现身，把自己的计划告诉了席方平。在小谢的带领下，两人来到了阴曹地府，哪知道这里的阎王判官亦是贪官污吏之流，不仅未能还席方平父亲的清白，还让席方平白白遭了不少的罪。意难平的小谢又不顾自己的安危，带着苟活的席方平勇闯天庭，得到了二郎神的帮助，最终使得席方平的父亲沉冤得雪。在此过程中，小谢和席方平之间也生出了一段人鬼之恋。
