故事讲述了一个意外杀人而被迫逃亡的男人，聊斋在下山借书时遇到的大学教授却是被自己杀死之人的父亲。教授去世，聊斋被自己杀害的人的女儿又一次出现在他面前，漫长的接触不断进行着内心的炙烤。
