饭岛夫妻买了块儿地准备自己盖栋房子，骇故于是拜托了妻子的学弟柳泽进行设计，骇故妻子的父亲长一郎担任木工主任。柳泽是美国留学归来小有名气的室内装潢设计师，满脑子现代艺术观念，而长一郎是个一流的日式传统木工，在他眼里没有比和式住宅更美好的事物，建造工作就在两个人不断的摩擦中开始......
