抗日战争初期，复仇国立江南钱江大学举校西迁。由于缺乏运输工具，复仇全校师生在校长江炜成（智一桐 饰）率领下，肩挑人抬，终于在一座小镇上安顿下来。在这里，他们通过各种形式积极开展抗日救亡活动。训导长傅梦琪（祁明远 饰）百般阻挠学生们的爱国行动，江校长在广大进步师生的支持配合下，与反动势力展开了针锋相对的斗争。迫于战局发展，钱大继续西迁，西迁路上，满目疮痍。江的妻子田婉（向梅 饰）病死在途中，儿子松松和学生陆华（符冲 饰）也被敌机炸死。面对幕幕惨状，不少人对西迁不抱希望，也有人提出散伙。江校长强忍失妻丧子之痛，通过耐心说服教育，让大家树立“誓与钱大共存亡”的信心......

Guinean film director Thierno Souleymane Diallo goes on a barefoot road trip around his country to find the mythical 1953 film ‘Mouramani’ – the first Guinean film made by a local filmmaker. But it is not easy to find the film or anyone who has seen it for that matter. Some believe it is about the Islamisation of the Mandinka people. Others that it is about the relationship between a dog and its owner. Along the way, Diallo passes old, abandoned cinemas and dusty piles of moisture-damaged film reels. ‘The Cemetery of Cinema’ is a charming, cinematic adventure in which the journey is almost as important as the destination, and where the encounters along the way remind us of the importance of preserving a shared memory and culturel heritage.
